Lounge Lizard’s Non-Profit Web Design Attracts Donors & Helps Communities
NHS Chicago, a highly regarded leader in homeownership consulting and education, retained Lounge Lizard to redesign their non-profit website, making it more streamlined, fresh, and multi-focused.
With a broad, diverse mission and scope, the new website needed to captivate potential and existing homeowners, real estate investors, and possible corporate and private donors — a tall order for a single website.
NHS Chicago champions racial and economic equity to empower mixed-income communities. Since its inception, NHS has loaned more than $685 million in homeowner funds in the Chicago area.
The non-profit needed a website to educate and support homeowners, speak to investors, and drive donations supporting NHS programs.
Lounge Lizard’s design and development teams created a multi-track site that deftly guides users along the path of their choice. Imagery and colors catalyze an overall feel of modern, progressive homeowner and investor services. The new website leaves behind any connotation that NHS is a traditional housing services organization.
For community members and residents, the website leads them through a full selection of support tracks, including educational offerings for new or existing homeowners, mortgage and home loan support, and grant selection for purchases, home repairs, or foreclosure abatement.
The website also provides real estate investors and corporate and individual donors with the tools and resources to participate in revitalizing neighborhoods throughout the southside and westside of Chicago.
Technology Improves the User Experience
With various courses and seminars, NHS wanted an application process that allowed them to understand their students more fully.
To that end, the Lounge Lizard Brandtenders created a Zoom API registration process customized for each offering to collect information relevant to the course or counseling session selected. Beyond the typical name and address, this new form also collects personal and demographic information about the individual and household, income, and veteran status. The new web form also collects accessibility needs, such as language preferences and special needs, creating a far more complete picture for the instructor or counselor.
Keeping the donors front of mind, the Lounge Lizard team also customized a donation platform created with a Stripe API. This platform allows donors to make a one-time donation or opt for ongoing monthly contributions of a pre-selected amount. With well-placed calls to action, the team encourages support and participation for donors and volunteers alike. Visiting the website gives the user the feeling they want to jump in and help out!
