Epic management website redesign

Epic Management is the go-to builder in the Eastern U.S. when looking for a full-service design/build construction group that can handle commercial builds of all sizes, including the interior build-outs and custom millwork often specified by discerning clients.

With locations in Manhattan, New Jersey, New England, and Puerto Rico, Epic Management has developed a well-deserved reputation for providing responsive solutions to clients facing challenges in the design and construction process. They have completed work up and down the eastern seaboard and Puerto Rico and the surrounding islands.

Established in 1971, the company has since evolved into a three-spoke enterprise, each with its presence, clients, and organizational workplace. Epic Management operates as a general construction organization performing such services as construction management at-risk and construction management advisory services, design/build, general contracting, and contractor consulting services.

Epic Millwork is a custom millwork shop that designs and fabricates high-end custom cabinetry, wood and laminate molding, and custom countertops. Epic Interiors provides all levels of carpentry services, including demolition, built-out, acoustical ceilings, and hardware installation.

Positioning Three Entities for a Digital Future

Epic Management’s website was functioning as a single organization site. It had an ‘Affiliates’ page where the interiors and millwork entities had two simple listings with a single picture and a few paragraphs of descriptive text side-by-side.

In addition, the existing site didn’t adequately convey Epic’s image, breadth of services, functionality, or experience, leaving the visitor to speculate about details that should be easily discernable.

By enlisting the services of Lounge Lizard Worldwide, Epic was hoping to create three full-service websites that presented each of the three companies in an individual, stand-alone way.

As a premier website design and development agency in New York City, Lounge Lizard brought the expertise required to position Epic Management for the digital future effectively. Hoping to capitalize on Lounge Lizard’s years of marketing and advertising experience, as well as their full range of digital design and development services, Epic met with the design team to discuss their overall vision and the forward-looking strategy for their site.

The Look and Feel of the New Site

Epic was instrumental in outlining their challenges and detailing their preeminent Unique Selling Propositions (USPs) as the project kicked off. Key to their layout was for Lounge Lizard to create an interconnected network of websites with one main site and two affiliate websites linked to each other and their bid opportunity partner platform – buildingconnected.com.

Another critical component was an engaging and vibrant portfolio on each website where Epic could feature their best work company by company or as a combined group. This allows them to guide clients to the website that best suits their needs without losing potential leads with too much information that’s not of interest.

With hiring an ongoing challenge in the construction field, Epic was highly motivated to take extra care in designing their ‘Careers’ page. They opted for a clean and direct way for potential candidates to contact the company with the ability to expand the application process digitally when the job market is less restrictive.

The final area where Epic wanted to highlight their accomplishments was a dedicated area to showcase their awards and safety records. Epic dedicated a lot of resources to the ongoing safety of their team and felt it was important to explain their commitment to a zero-incident workplace.

From timely and thorough OSHA training and inspections to monthly and quarterly safety seminars to special equipment training, Epic has a deep connection to their entire team, from management to tradespeople to support staff.

Putting the Vision to Work

With an understanding of the overall goals, Lounge Lizard’s design team and project management specialist crafted a site plan that detailed the flow of site pages, including from individual site to individual site and then each to the bidding partner site.

To preserve cost savings, the initial home page and sub-pages were designed for the Epic Management site. And once approved, that website was copied for the two additional websites. This allowed Epic to have websites that could be easily navigated, maintained, and updated as portfolios expanded or team members changed.

Keeping the customer experience front of mind, Lounge Lizard’s design and development teams brought state-of-the-art UI/UX that further enhanced Epic’s customer experience. Each of Epic’s requirements was either met or exceeded. They are finding particular success with the new enhanced ‘Portfolio’ page that features their best work from various industries.

Lounge Lizard’s design team paid particular attention to presenting their work in a portfolio landscape where they could maintain ‘sticky’ posts for those jobs that were eye-catching while keeping the other portfolio entries exhibiting in chronological order. The development team added a filtering mechanism so that visitors could search by location or industry, making the portfolio relevant to all visitors.

Expanding the Marketing Strategy with Content and Metrics

New for Epic, the team created a news and resources page called EPICenter to encourage the posting of press releases, postable content, events, and recent awards in a format that was easily searchable and could bring in additional leads. This opened a whole new avenue for marketing and advertising that Epic had not yet exploited.

As the final touch, Lounge Lizard’s SEO specialists optimized the three sites to gain the attention of search engines and ensured that the website operates seamlessly on mobile, PC, and tablet. Lounge Lizard’s expertise in the new Google Core Vitals update ensured that the Epic Management websites would be ahead of metrics such as Largest Contentful Paint, First Input Delay, and Cumulative Layout Shift.

In the Final Analysis

As the new websites kick off, Epic Management is pleased with the results and anxious to see how they perform in search results and lead generation. Garnering excellent reviews from existing clients and current employees, it looks like Lounge Lizard was a great partner in the company’s website design and development.
