As a leading petrochemical company, Alpek continues to expand its portfolio of products with highly innovative technology, strategically located assets, and forward-looking market strategies — with both safety and environmental responsibility as guiding factors. Its materials are used in products that are used everyday. With 32 locations and more than 6,300 employees, Alpek has manufacturing and processing facilities throughout the Americas and United Kingdom.
Alpek came to Lounge Lizard Worldwide for a website redesign after they realized potential investors and visitors to their site couldn’t easily find the materials they needed. And while Alpek is a leader in the petrochemical industry, its website did not reflect that. Outdated images, lack of a good user experience, and a focus solely on chemicals was holding them back.
The Human Factor
Alpek is a pioneer in the petrochemical industry and has a strong focus on environmental responsibility.
What was missing from their website was the human factor. Photos of chemicals, pellets, and powders are, well, hard to relate to. They don’t make end-goods, but there is an element that makes what they do personal.
Their main marketing driver wasn’t their images or copy, it was their logo. So our Brandtender team used that as a starting point to create a website look that tied to their origins but also propelled them to a more modern and timeless feel.
The new design makes sure everyone who visits the site walks away with these three impressions:
Alpek’s materials enable customers to improve everyday lives, and make the world a little bit better.
There’s a good chance people touch Alpek’s products on a regular basis, even every day: From the water people drink at the gym (PET bottle & PP cap), to the car people drive home in (EPS bumper and PP dashboard), the insulation keeping people’s home cool on a summer day (EPS), or seeing your recently-vaccinated family and friends (PP syringe & EPS vaccine cooler).
By using products such as the ones Alpek makes, people are being eco-friendly. Alpek’s materials are 100% recyclable, infinitely recyclable, already recycled at high rates and promote a lower carbon footprint than their alternatives. Alpek leads comprehensive efforts to foster a fully circular lifecycle for PET and the rest of its products.
By changing the main image on the homepage to someone drinking from a water bottle and adding some movement adds interest and humanity to the site immediately. We used Adobe XD to prototype and animate most of the page elements.
Headlines about sustainability and being the maker of building blocks that improve everyday lives allows all visitors to immediately know what Alpek is all about.
Numbers and an easy-to-navigate design that includes an investor center is so user friendly that financials, statements, quarterly reports and the latest news are at everyone’s fingertips.
With a fully responsive website that educates users, informs potential and current investors, and showcases how Alpek overcomes challenges in their industry, the impact is already being made.
