Epic Management, Inc. is a group of affiliated companies that includes Epic Management, Epic Interiors, and Epic Millwork. Collectively these companies comprise a full-service design/build construction company capable of managing and facilitating projects from start to finish.
Epic Management itself is a general construction company that performs design/build, redevelopment services, consulting services, construction management at risk, and construction management advisor services.
Affiliate Epic Interiors performs demolition, all phases of carpentry, installation of all acoustical ceilings and hardware. Their sister company, Epic Millwork, is a full-scale millwork shop that fabricates custom high-end wood and laminate molding, custom cabinetry and countertops, and other woodwork.
Epic prides itself on its collective values of a strong organization and team culture, commitment to client satisfaction, and operating in integrity and stewardship.
Their presence in the construction field reaches from offices in New England, New Jersey, and New York City to Puerto Rico and the surrounding islands.
Epic Management engaged Lounge Lizard Worldwide to design and develop three separate and unique websites with a standardized brand and theme, each with a unique address for all three of their companies.
Their current website had been developed several years prior and could no longer provide the image, functionality, and visitor experience the company desired. The old website had all three companies represented with the interiors and the millwork entities housed on a single landing page each.
The new website would have one primary website and two affiliate websites, one for Epic Interiors, LLC, and one for Epic Millwork, LLC, each with separate links to Epic’s preferred bid opportunities platform.
Additionally, Epic Management wanted to have a strong portfolio page representing their top work visually on each site. They also wanted to demonstrate the breadth of their services from design-build to construction management at-risk (CMAR) on a clearly-defined services page.
Next, the Epic Management Team felt it was important to highlight their safety record and awards in a highly competitive field. They felt this was crucial since it helps prospective clients differentiate them from the other builders in the region.
Last, construction, like so many other industries, is experiencing a post-pandemic struggle to recruit and hire good people. Epic wanted to make a strong case for career and recruitment opportunities on a careers page to improve and expand their hiring pool.
With the initial discussions taking place between Epic’s appointed project people and Lounge Lizard’s project manager and designers, everyone had a clear idea of the result that Epic had in mind.
Kicking off the project, the design team began crafting a home page based on the approved site plan. Because building one primary website that could be duplicated was the most cost-effective option, Lounge Lizard started with a transferrable layout that included a services page and subpages.
Next, they concentrated on a portfolio section that could adequately host Epic’s myriad list of projects, complete with the ability to add new projects later and to feature (or make sticky) one or two projects at the top that might be out of sequence.
The Affiliates Page would give a brief description with links to the entire website for the affiliated companies. Next, there would be a page showcasing the leadership team and their safety program, awards, and blog.
The last page would highlight a contact us page featuring a details gathering form and a careers page that listed positions by office or region. The careers page also could feature an email address to collect resumes or a more complex application form if Epic finds that more productive.
Epic Management uses a real-time construction network platform, Building Connected, where owners and builders can connect and manage the bid and risk process. Lounge Lizard designed a direct link from any page to the Building Connected bidding platform, so Epic would not lose customers.
A key component missing from the old Epic site was a strategic use of Calls to Action (CTAs). The design team included CTAs at every opportunity as the potential customer is guided through the site.
Once the site design was approved and the client-generated content was added, Lounge Lizard’s development team stepped in to build the custom WordPress site for all three pages. They used the main page wireframe for Epic Management to create that website and then customized two different websites for both millwork and interiors.
Each new site required different services and a separate portfolio to represent the work that they do. These two new sites also required a custom link to the bid management platform.
Once the design was complete, search engine optimization (SEO) was added, and the site went through extensive QA before launch.
The client was exceedingly pleased with the results for the three websites. Regardless of how a client hears about Epic Management, they will have the opportunity to visit all three websites and put together an overall customized plan for the work they need to be completed.
As an additional win, Epic had lost nearly half of their organic site visits (before we launched the redesign) in April 2021, which could be a function of the new Google Core Vital kick-off.
We expect their numbers to improve with new, fresh SEO in place in the future.
